The COVID-19 pandemic is a global health crisis and Veoneer’s thoughts go to everybody around the world suffering from its consequences.

At Veoneer, health and safety is our first priority. Our focus in the COVID-19 outbreak is to reduce risks and not spreading the disease further, within our own teams and with customers and other external stakeholders. This includes travel restrictions, protective health measures, avoid physical meetings and a work from home policy when and where circumstances allow.

When the pandemic hit the world, we quickly adapted our ways of working, and 4,100 employees started to work from home, without technical issues. For employees who are not able to work from home, primarily in our manufacturing facilities, we take extra measures to make sure our work environment is as safe as possible.

We are working hard to safeguard as much of our operations as possible and help our customers stay up and running. Due to governmental regulations and lockdowns, our manufacturing has been limited temporarily in some markets.

Canada

In-house produced fabric masks

Through the Covid-19 pandemic, people are required to wear face masks on many locations in the world. To help reduce strain on the supply of medical grade masks, a team in the manufacturing facility in Markham, Canada, started making fabric masks.

Within a few days the team was able to analyze a multitude of available patterns and commenced production of an optimized version which was designed and tested in-house. The phasing out of medical grade masks is progressing well and our manufacturing facility in Canada is providing masks to our facilities in Goleta and in Lowell, USA. The 2-layer, tight-weave cotton masks even come in Veoneer green.
